Accessibility....What do we mean?
In reference to websites, according to the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), accessibility means that people with disabilities can;
1. Perceive;
2. Understand;
3. Navigate;
4. Interact;
5. Contribute;
through an online web application.

We have experience in ensuring that our websites created for our clients take into account the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). This act was created to ensure that the disabled are not disadvantaged by the nature of the website design.

Equal access - Equal Opportunity

We believe it is essential to design for peoples' needs. The design of a website needs to account for many different peoples' requirements, preferences and situations. Accessibility doesn't only take into account users with dissabilities, but people with changing abilities e.g. reduction in sight or movement due to age, or temporary dissability due to injury.

Not just the user...

When designing websites for clients, we believe an important aspect of web accessibility is ensuring that the site itself is suitable for the 3 most popular web browsers; Microsoft Internet Explorer; Mozilla Firefox; and Safari. Each browser differs greatly, and it is of great importance that your business website functions accurately when viewed on each of them. If not, your website is not accessible.

Differing internet connection speeds, as well as the processor speed of a computer can also have a major impact on the accessibility of a website. Therfore we ensure that the any website produced for a client, is performed in such a way so as to maximise the opening speed of each web page.

What can we do for you?

By putting into practice the optimum techniques we can produce a website suitable for all users. By choosing the right backgrounds, fonts, colours and page organisation for your individual website, we can help it be viewed by all. By providing alternatives for all sortwares and graphics, a website can be designed so as to be accessible and inclusive for all. Again by using the correct techniques in the creation of graphics and animations, and in the overall styling of the page, we can also ensure that your webpage opens as quickly as possible.

Although the techniques outlined above are best incorporated during the initial design of a website, we can review an existing site, and redesign/update it, making it as accessible as possible and create a web solution complient with the UK Disability Discrimintation Act (DDA).

It makes good business sense...

Ensuring that your website is accessible makes great business sense, as you are in effect, maximising your potential audience and demonstrating your understanding of good web design practice.
